Tour of Thekkady 2027

Event Information

Welcome to the 6th Edition of "Tour of Thekkady" (ToT '27) , India's best granfondo ! Kerala's very own iconic cycling event. This event is one of its kind that combines racing and touring into one. The 160km stretch with an elevation of 3,000 meters, meandering through the ever changing and scenic landscape of Kerala will ensure, you get the right dosage of your adrenaline rush. Starting from Kottayam this ride will take you through Kulamavu Dam, Idukki, Kattappana, Puliyanmala and will culminate at Thekkady.

We have been listening to you and have been continuously evolving over the past 6 years. We have brought out several changes this year to accommodate your suggestions. This event now has the options for either race with cut off times of 8-9hrs and tour with a cut off time of 14 hrs.
 

ROUTE DETAILS: Kottayam – Ettumanoor – Pala – Muttom – Kulamavu Dam – Idukki Dam – Kattappana – Puliyanmala – Thekkady. (The final route gpx file to be updated later. The organizers reserve the right to alter the route, based on traffic and road conditions on the event day).

Date: Saturday, 30th January 2027,

Starting Point: Caesar Palace Hotel, Nagampadom, Kottayam (Subject to obtaining necessary approvals)

Start Time: 05:30am

Reporting Time: 04:00 am

Race Finish: 152KM Anakkara, Idukki

Tour Finish: 167KM Treetop Hotel, Thekkady

Elevation: 3000+ meters

The 5th edition of ToT will be an electronically timed event for a more efficient management. 

Duration / Cut off time:
 

All formats will have additional cut off times at 79km (2 pm) and at 118km (5 pm). Riders arriving after this cut off time at either check points will be reported DNF and swept by the sweep vehicle and brought to finish point.

Cut Off time for Race Men – 8.5 hrs
Cut Off time for Race Women – 9.5 hrs
Cut Off time for Tour – 14.5 hrs

Pre-event formalities: 28th / 29th January 2027, Kottayam.

Eligibility: All participants must be above 18 years of age. For Master Men race, 40+years to be completed.

Equipment: Managed by RFID control gates driven pedal bicycles are allowed.

Registration Fees includes:

 - Certificates, medal, technical support, hydration support at fixed locations, medical aid, ambulance services, bag drop facility and refreshments at the finish point.

Bag drop facility: (Free): bag drop facility of essential items ( less than 2Kg, small bags) is provided from Kottayam to Thekkady and can be returned to Kottayam
 

Cycle Return Transportation Facility (Payable/optional): We do provide transfer of your bicycles from Thekkady to Kottayam at an extra cost of Rs. 750/- at the owner’s sole risk. The event organizers shall not be held responsible for any damage or loss or theft of your bicycle or its accessories.

Please note that all merchandise ordered on or before the registration closure date (Dec 20, 2026), will be delivered by Hyve sports at the bib distribution (No delivery fee) - one day before the event. The orders placed afterwards will be shipped to the delivery address with a delivery fee as charged by Hyve.

Prizes/Medals/Winner Jerseys/ Digital Certificates:

1. All finishers get the Tour of Thekkady 2026 medal.

2. All finishers get the Tour of Thekkady 2027 completion digital certificate with their timing, provided they finish within the stipulated cut-off time.

3. Attractive cash prizes for top 3 positions in race categories. (A rider can be considered for only one category).

Both men and women elite categories, as well as segment winners are eligible for winners jersey.

Top 6 (Six) riders in all individual categories are awarded FREE complimentary entry (worth AED 395 Rs. 9,600 each ) into Spinneys Dubai 92 Cycle Challenge 2028 edition in Feb/March. The complimentary vouchers for the eligible riders will be shared individually once the registration for Spinneys is open.

Prize giving away ceremony will be after the Race event cut off time. 4:00 PM @ Treetop Hotel.

Touring

1. Any participants who are not confident to finish the event may select the Touring which has 14 hrs for cut off.

2. Participants must select Touring specifically at the time of registration.

3. Hydration, technical and medical support is available on route till 4:00 PM . Minimum tech support can be provided on request, subject to availability of technicians.

4. Personal support team is NOT ALLOWED for ToT 2026.

5. Minimum support is provided by the organisers at designated control points.

6. Any vehicle found to be supporting the participants enroute will be subject to immediate disqualification.

Individual Race Category

1. Participants must select their race category according to age and gender.

2. Any participant who does not finish their race within the cut off time will not be eligible for the prizes and will be automatically relegated to the touring category.

3. Personal support team is permitted at your own cost.

4. Support vehicles are not allowed to tag or ride along with riders. They have to be stationed at any of the prescribed control points. Any support during the ride for a rider must be with the permission of ride officials.

Suggestions for return from Thekkady: Return to Kottayam post event is the sole responsibility of riders. Easiest way is to ride back to Kottayam via Kuttikanam ( KK Road - 110km ), which mostly rolling hills and downhill. Taxi Jeep, and public bus transportation is also easily available from Thekkady.
 

Stay at Thekkady: Accommodation is not included in the registration fee. Thekkady is an ideal tourist destination of Kerala and many hotels of various budget sizes available for rent. We strongly request riders to book the hotels early.
 
Registration: Registration fees for all registration is Rs.3,000/- plus conveyance charges. We provide an early bird offer of Rs. 2,750/- for first 100 registrations.

Terms & Conditions / Rules and regulations: (to be read and signed by ALL riders).

I accept the following TERMS AND CONDITIONS for participating in the Tour of Thekkady 2026:

1. I am 18 years or above legal age by the day of event , by 29th March 2026.

2. I have read and agree to abide by the Race Rules and Regulations.

3. I agree to comply with the traffic and road laws and regulations of India.

4. I fully understand and agree that I am entering this event entirely at I own risk and accept without exception full and complete liability for all and any risks and will not hold responsible nor make claims against KEG Bikers, any of the participants or organizer, its committee members, agents or servants for any loss, damage or injury however caused in relation to I participation in this event.

5. I understand and fully accept the rights of the Event Officials to take decisions based on perceived risk to health and safety and to stop any rider or crew from continuing.

6. I understand that when I am riding a bicycle, I am required to wear a helmet, use rear blinkers, use front light, wear a reflective vest at all times during the event.

7. I understand that I am required to comply with all the safety requirements set out in the event Rules.

8. Participation in the Event is subject to Approval from KEG Bikers after Payment of Registration fees. I understand that KEG Bikers reserves the right to refuse or cancel I registration and will refund the registration fees after deductions of Payment Gateway processing charges.

9. I agree to sign the waiver form and submit the required information and documents at the time of Pre-event Registration prior to the event.

10. I understand that any attempt at cheating (as determined by the event officials) if proven, will result in immediate disqualification.

11. I agree to make the Payment of Registration fees as per the event tickets.

12. I understand that I Participation will be cancelled without refund for non-completion of Mandatory Pre event Registration formalities, equipment inspection or non-attendance of pre-race briefing at the appointed time.

13. I understand that KEG Bikers reserves the right to cancel any category in the event due to low participation. Option to change category or a refund (less payment charges) will be provided to the rider.

14. I agree to take insurance with sufficient coverage for life, personal accident and third-party liability for all members of the team, riders and crew.

15. No refund for cancellation after 20th December 2026.

16. All participants and their respective crew accept unconditionally, all responsibility for their own health with respect to all situations!

17. All participants and their respective crew agree to abide by health norms as always directed by the pertinent authorities during.

18. I agree that all decisions taken by the event organizers and KEG Bikers will be final in all matters pertaining to this event.

KEG Bikers is a renowned cycling club from Kottayam formed in November 2021, by a group of endurance cycling enthusiasts in Kottayam. In a short span of time, we as a group have earned a reputation for delivering cycling events of very high-quality standards among the cycling community in Kerala and beyond. We are a registered club and affiliated to the Sports Council of Kerala.
